Teaching

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is guided by three goals:

  1. To train my students how to think analytically about complex international issues

  2. To encourage them to ask and answer thought-provoking questions about political outcomes, particularly on issues related to energy, the environment and international security

  3. To guide them in answering questions using theory, research design and empirical analysis.

In addition to classroom lectures, I incorporate three sets of tools to facilitate these goals: field visits, simulations, and guided independent research. For a copy of my teaching philosophy, please contact me.
